Laurie Callaway is a Garden Designer practicing in the Bay Area. As a child, she first gained her love of gardening after reading 'The Secret Garden' by Francis Hodgson Burnett. Later while working in high-tech
for such companies as Amdahl, Sun and Intel she had many opportunities to travel to England and fell in love with the English gardens and countryside and dreamed of designing gardens herself someday.
While working full time, she began the Garden Design program at UC Berkeley Extension and graduated in 1996 with a Certificate in Garden Design. She began her practice in 1998 and specializes in four season gardens; a garden that has leaf and flowering interest throughout the year. She also enjoys designing perennial borders and rose gardens. Laurie is a former instructor in the UC Berkeley Extension program and taught courses entitled 'Growing a Landscaping Business' and 'Paths and Patios.'
Laurie has been featured in Sunset Magazine's Low-Maintenance Gardening and regularly contributes her talents to HGTV's television program, Curb Appeal. She is also a Certified member of the Association of Professional Landscape Designers (APLD).
Laurie conducts a tour each May of the Chelsea Flower Show in London and then moves on to the Cotswolds to see gardens. For more information please visit www.callawaygardentours.com.
